- Administrative or Biographical History: John William Morris assumed the title Baron Morris of Borth-y-Gest on his elevation to the peerage in 1960. From 1960 to 1975 he sat as a lord of appeal in ordinary. He was called upon to preside over many wide-ranging committees, of which probably the most important was the Home Office committee on jury service (1963-1964).
