- Administrative or Biographical History: Lord Ailwyn was Vice Chamberlain of Queen Victoria's Household (1895-1900) and a Junior Lord of the Treasury 1900-1905; he sat for the Ramsey division of Huntingdonshire from Aug 1887 until defeated in 1906.
- Acquisition: Deposited by Lord Ailwyn (Carol Arthur Fellowes (1896-1988), 4th Baron Ailwyn) on 30 March 1981. Accession number 2060.
- Description: Royal invitations from the Princess of Wales and Queen Victoria (1897) and a programme of events for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (19-28 June 1897), invitations for the Queen's procession and her address to both Houses of Parliament (23 June 1897) on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee; a ticket to the funeral of William Gladstone and to a luncheon given by the Lord Steward after Queen Victoria's funeral. A ticket to the trial of Earl Russell (19 July 1901); invitation from the Corporation of London to a luncheon in honour of the visit of the French President (7 July 1903) and of the King of Portugal (7 Nov 1904); menu of the dinner at the House of Commons to meet the Rt. Hon. Joseph Chamberlain MP (9 June 1904).
