- Administrative or Biographical History: Andrew Bayntun Rolt (1740-1816) held the Weobley seat from 1780 and resigned in 1786 to make way for Thomas Thynne (1765-1837) the eldest son of Lord Weymouth, who had come of age. Lord Weymouth secured a commanding interest in this borough in the early 1750s and thereafter it was a pocket borough for the Thynne family. Thomas Thynne was MP for Weobley (1786-1790) and for Bath (1790-1796); he was created Marquess of Bath in 1796.
