- Administrative or Biographical History: Lord Truro was Sergeant at Law (1824), King's Sergeant (1827), Attorney General (1841and 1846), Chief Justice of Common Pleas (1846-1850) and Lord Chancellor (1850-1852). He was also a Whig MP (1831-1832) and again from 1835 to 1841.
- Acquisition: The Lord Chancellor's widow, Baroness Truro (better known as Mademoiselle D'Este) bequeathed his collection of legal volumes and bound manuscript notes to the House of Lords Library on 6 March 1856.
- Description: This fonds contains 7 sub sub series. They are divided into General Legal Notebooks, the Bathurst Notebooks, Judge's Notebooks, Lord Chancellor's Notebooks, Chancery Notebooks, General Manuscripts and Judgements.
