- Administrative or Biographical History: These papers span the career of Sir John Biggs-Davison, Conservative MP for Chigwell (1955-Feb 1974) and for Epping Forest (Feb 1974-88). Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Biggs-Davison was a civil servant in India and Pakistan and a member of the Conservative Research Department, 1950-55. Whilst a MP he joined various Parliamentary Delegations to countries outside Britain. In addition, he was an opposition Front Bench spokesman on Northern Ireland, 1976-78.
