- Administrative or Biographical History: Harold Balfour was elected Conservative and Unionist MP for the Isle of Thanet in 1929, where he remained until he was created Baron Balfour of Inchrye in 1945. He was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Air in 1938 and in October 1941 he accompanied Beaverbrook on the Supply Mission to Moscow. In 1944 he became Minister Resident in West Africa for one year.
- Acquisition: Accessioned by HLRO on 7 April 1975 as part of the deposit from the First Beaverbrook Foundation on the closure of the Beaverbrook Library. Accession number 1471.
