- Creator Name: Association of Independent Unionist Peers; [1912]-1982
- Administrative or Biographical History: A small file of the papers of this Association has survived amongst the papers of the Association of Lord-Lieutenants of Counties. This is due to the fact that Sir John Seymour Lloyd was Secretary to both Associations at this period. There was also a considerable overlap in the membership of the two Associations. From 1912 until the 1920s the Association of Independent Unionist Peers was known as the Association of Opposition Peers. It was again renamed in 1982 as the Association of Conservative Peers at the suggestion of their Chairman at the time, Lord Boyd-Carpenter.
- Acquisition: This file was deposited by Paul Hayter, Secretary of the Association of the Lord-Lieutenants of Counties, in January 1991. No Accession number is available.
- Description: Most of the papers date from 1921and 1922 when the Association's chief concern was the Anglo-Irish Treaty of that year. Whips, however, were sent to the Association's members requesting their attendance at debates on other Bills such as those relating to Agriculture, Safeguarding of Industries, War Pensions, Railways and Local Authorities.
